Well Strand is in the middle of Rothbury's high street. It's set back a bit from the road. This cottage used to be a girls' school, built in the 1820s.
It sleeps six in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. One has a walk-in shower, the other has a bath you can lie in and see the Simonside Hills out the window. The stairs are fine.
The living room has a wood burner in an inglenook fireplace. The kitchen has a big farmhouse table. It's been done up simply, with wooden floors and stone walls. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped.
You can walk straight out the door up into the Simonside Hills. The Sandstone Way cycle route is nearby if you have bikes. There's storage for them here.
Cragside House is less than a mile away. It's a National Trust place with gardens and a lake. It's worth a visit.
The coast is about half an hour's drive. Places like Bamburgh and Seahouses have long beaches and castles. Alnwick Castle and its gardens are about twelve miles away. Hadrian's Wall and Kielder are both within an hour's drive for a day out.
In Rothbury itself, there's a shop, pub, and places to eat about a hundred yards away.
Facilities include a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and parking. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs. The garden is enclosed.
