Allotment Cottage is on the High Street in Rothbury. It's at the back, so it's quiet. The windows look out over the gardens. It's a three-star place, which means it's comfortable but not new.
It sleeps two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. The stairs are steep, just so you know. There's a small kitchen area that gets sun in the morning. The living room is a good size, with a fireplace. It doesn't work, but it's nice to look at.
You're right in the middle of town. You can walk to everything. The pub is about a minute away, and there are a few cafes and shops. The river is at the end of the street, with a path alongside it.
The big thing here is walking. You're basically in the foothills of the Simonside Hills. You can start a walk from the door. For a day out, Cragside is just outside the town. It's a National Trust house with huge gardens and lakes. You can walk there from the cottage if you're up for it, or drive in five minutes.
If you want to drive further, Alnwick Castle is about half an hour. The Northumberland coast, like Alnmouth or Bamburgh, is about forty minutes. They've got the big beaches and castles. Inland, you've got Kielder Water, which is a huge reservoir with forests, maybe forty-five minutes drive.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking for one car right outside. We accept dogs, up to three. The entrance and the main living space are on the ground level and are wheelchair accessible.
