The Croft

The Croft is up on the hill above Rothbury. It's double-fronted and made from stone, it's semi-detached. We've had it redone recently.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. That means the recent work meets the grading standards for things like heating and safety.

The living room gets the sun and has a wood burner. You can see right across the Coquet valley to the Simonside hills from there. The dining room has the same view. There's a piano in there if anyone plays.

The kitchen is new. Both bathrooms are too. The beds are good quality, so people tend to sleep well.

There's a terrace out the front that gets the sun, with some garden furniture. The garden is enclosed, so it's safe for dogs. We take up to two dogs. Parking is on site.

Rothbury itself is a five minute walk downhill. There's a few shops, a couple of pubs that do food, and a petrol station. The River Coquet runs through it, which is nice for a stroll.

The cottage is right on the edge of the Northumberland National Park. For walking, you've got Simonside hill right there, or you can drive a short way to places like Harbottle. Cragside is just on the other side of Rothbury, that's the National Trust house with the gardens and lakes.

Alnwick is about half an hour's drive. That's where the castle and the famous treehouse are. The coast, like Alnmouth or Druridge Bay, is also within half an hour. For a bigger day out, you can get to Newcastle or the Northumberland coast castles, like Bamburgh, in under an hour.

We include bedding and towels. There's Wi-Fi, a washing machine, and a dishwasher.
