Jalna
Jalna is in Stratton, just outside Bude. It's a terraced house, over 500 years old, right by the village green and the church. You can hear the bells.
It sleeps eight in four double bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. The rating is 4 Star. It's historic, so it feels solid and a bit grand in places, but it's still a cottage.
The main living room is big, with a wood burner. There's a small internal courtyard off the back with a fountain. It's shady and cool. The second floor bedroom has very large, old roof beams and some skylights. We have blackout blinds for them.
The village shop and post office are a few steps away. There are two pubs, The Tree Inn and The Kings Arms, about 50 yards down the road.
Bude's closest beach is under two miles away. It's sandy and good for families. Widemouth Bay is about three miles further on, which is better for surfing. The South West Coast Path is right there.
Within about half an hour you can get to Tintagel Castle, or go to Padstow. The Eden Project is about a 40-minute drive. Bodmin Moor is closer for walking.
Facilities: it has a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and a cot. Bedding and towels are included. We allow up to two dogs. There's parking for one car on the driveway.
