Sandy Cott is a lodge on the Penstowe Holiday Park near Kilkhampton. It's not a remote cottage, it's on a well-kept park.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and modern. The living area is open plan and gets a lot of light. The kitchen is small but it has what you need, including a dishwasher. There's a patio area outside and parking right next to it.
Because it's a single-storey lodge and has a wheelchair-accessible entrance, it suits people who can't manage stairs. The park itself has a pub and restaurant, and sometimes entertainment in the main season.
You're just outside Kilkhampton village. There are two pubs there, both do good food. The nearest proper beach is about a ten-minute drive, things like Northcott Mouth or Sandymouth. They're big sandy beaches when the tide's out.
Bude is a ten to fifteen minute drive south. That's where you'll find the main shops, more cafes, a castle by the sea, and the canal. Good surfing there too.
If you want a day out, Clovelly in Devon is about half an hour north. It's a steep, traffic-free fishing village you pay to enter. Also within half an hour is Hartland Point, which is wild coastal walking.
