Brightlands Apartment

This is Brightlands Apartment. It's on the first floor of a house on the edge of Bude. You get a key to a front door shared with the other flat, then it's all yours upstairs.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's been refurbished. It’s a 3 Star rating, which I’d say is about right. It’s clean and comfortable, not luxurious. The main thing is the view from the living room windows. It faces south over the fields and Maer Lake. You can sit there and watch the weather come in.

You’re about a ten minute walk from the centre of Bude and the main beach. The town is good for basics – supermarkets, pasties, a few pubs. It’s a proper working town, not just for tourists. The National Trust owns a lot of the coast here, so the beaches like Sandymouth are really well kept.

The apartment has its own small patio area with a built-in barbecue. There’s also about an acre and a half of communal gardens around the house you can use. Parking is right there.

Inside, it’s open plan living. There’s a TV, a washing machine, and all the bedding is provided. The kitchen has what you need.

For a day out, Boscastle is about twenty minutes drive up the coast. It’s a strange little harbour in a steep valley. Tintagel Castle is a bit further, maybe half an hour. It’s run by English Heritage. It’s mostly ruins and amazing views, very dramatic. Clovelly is a similar distance the other way, but that’s in Devon.

Bude itself has the sea pool for swimming if the sea’s a bit rough, and the canal is nice for a flat walk. The South West Coast Path goes right through town if you want a proper hike.

No pets, I'm afraid. The stairs up to the flat are a standard flight, not a spiral or anything.
