The Old Dairy is a converted barn just outside Thorncombe, in Dorset. It's single-storey, so everything's on the ground floor. That's handy if stairs are a problem. It's detached, so it's just you.
It sleeps four in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom, which is a wet room with a walk-in shower. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean.
The garden is enclosed, which is good if you're bringing the dogs. You can have up to two. There's a BBQ out there and you look out over fields.
Inside, there's a woodburning stove for cooler evenings, a TV, and WiFi. It's got a dishwasher and a washing machine. All the bedding and towels are included. You can park right outside.
The village shop is about a mile away. The local pub is a mile and a half. It's a proper walk, especially on the way back.
For days out, the coast is about a twenty-minute drive. Lyme Regis is the closest, on the Jurassic Coast. You can walk the coast path, look for fossils, or just go to the beach. Inland, Forde Abbey and Gardens is very close. It's a good walk from the cottage.
If you don't mind driving a bit further, the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton is about half an hour north. The Haynes Motor Museum is a similar distance.
There are three national footpaths that cross nearby if you like walking. The countryside round here is good for it.
