Whatley Lodge is in Whatley, a few miles south of Chard. It's at the bottom of a long gravel drive, completely on its own next to a little river. You'll often see deer and kingfishers.
It's a detached lodge, sleeps four in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's well looked after, comfortable, and clean. Everything's on the ground floor, which is handy.
Because it's down the drive, you're very private. The garden's enclosed and there's a patio with a barbecue. It's quiet. You get the sound of the river.
In the village, about a mile away, there's a shop and a pub. The pub does food. For a proper day out, the coast is within half an hour. Lyme Regis, West Bay, Seaton – that sort of thing.
Closer by, Forde Abbey and Gardens are nice for a walk. If it rains, the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton or the Haynes Motor Museum are good for a few hours. There's a golf course at Cricket St Thomas, about ten minutes away.
The place has a woodburning stove, dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi and TV. Bedding and towels are included. Parking is right there. You can bring up to two dogs.
