The Lookout

The Lookout is in Ticknall. It’s one of three converted barns in a terrace. You get your own driveway. The main thing is the view, it’s all fields. They put in big folding doors and windows to make the most of it.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with their own bathrooms. One has a bath, the other a walk-in shower. It’s a 5 Star place, so it’s done to a high standard. Everything feels new. There are bathrobes and slippers.

Outside, there’s a private patio with furniture and a hot tub. It’s enclosed.

In the village, about a mile away, there’s a shop and a couple of pubs. Melbourne is nearby for more pubs and shops. The National Trust’s Calke Abbey is right on the doorstep for walks. The house is interesting too.

You’re on the edge of The National Forest, so there’s plenty of walking and cycling from the door. The Peak District is about a 30 minute drive. That’s where you’ll find Chatsworth, Bakewell, and places like that.

Closer by, there’s Staunton Harold Reservoir for sailing, and Mercia Marina at Willington. Donington Park is there if you’re into motor racing or festivals.

For facilities: there’s parking, a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. No pets, sorry.

A useful link if you’re planning walks in the area is The National Forest.
