The Hill Coachouse is the old stables for the main house. It's down a long drive, so you get a bit of peace. There's quite a bit of garden too, about three acres.
It's a big place, sleeps eighteen. There are eight bedrooms and five bathrooms. It's got a 3 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and practical, not luxury. We get a lot of family groups here. Because it was the stables, the layout is a bit all over the place, but you get used to it.
If you've got a horse, you can stable it here if you ask beforehand.
You can walk down to Swarkestone Bridge from here. It's an old packhorse bridge and quite a thing to see. The Trent is nearby for canoeing or that sort of thing. There's a pub about three quarters of a mile away.
Derby is about fifteen minutes by car if you need shops or a cinema. Calke Abbey isn't far either. For a day out, Alton Towers is about half an hour's drive. The Peak District is close too. You can get to Ashbourne and Dovedale in maybe twenty five minutes. Matlock Bath is a bit further, maybe thirty five minutes.
What's here: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and parking. Bedding is included. We can provide a cot. You're welcome to bring one well-behaved dog. There's a patio with a BBQ.
