Acacia Lodge

Acacia Lodge is a detached house on the marina in Willington. It sleeps five. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. One is an en-suite shower room off the double bedroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. The furniture is oak and leather, it's comfortable.

The main thing is the veranda. It's a good size, faces south and west so you get sun most of the day. You look out over the water and the boats.

It's designed to be accessible. There's a tarmac footpath up to it, no steps. The doorways are wide, there's a shower seat and toilet aids if you need them. They even have a wheelchair you can borrow to use around the marina. It meets the National Accessible Scheme M2 standard.

Inside, there's an open plan living, dining and kitchen area. It has all the usual appliances, plus a separate washer and dryer. There's a TV in each room and WiFi. A cot and highchair are there if you need them.

The marina is big, it's the largest inland one in Europe. There's a row of shops and a two-storey bar and restaurant called The Boardwalk. It's a raised wooden walkway, good for watching the boats.

For walks, the area around Findern village is nice. The Peak District is about a 30 minute drive. You've got Bakewell and Ashbourne. Closer by, within about 10 miles, are a few National Trust houses: Calke Abbey, Kedleston Hall, and Sudbury Hall. Hardwick Hall is a bit further.

Chatsworth House is maybe 40 minutes away. Alton Towers is about half an hour. The National Memorial Arboretum is near Burton-on-Trent, and the National Forest is just south of here. Visit Peak District has more on the area.

You can bring one dog. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right by the lodge.
