Heather Lodge is a detached, modern lodge on a lake near Willington. It sits right on the water, so you'll have ducks and swans coming up to the deck.
It sleeps four, with two bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, so no one has to queue. It's got a four-star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped.
The main room is open plan, with the kitchen, living area, and dining all together. Big French windows open onto a large raised deck overlooking the lake. There's a small grassy area at the back too. The place has smart TVs, a washing machine, dishwasher, and Wi-Fi included. Bedding and towels are provided.
The lodge is part of a marina complex. There are a few cafes here, one is on a narrowboat. There's a bar and restaurant and a good Indian place. Shops on site offer a discount if you show your lodge key tag. You can hire bikes for free, and there are walks right from the door.
Willington village is about a 20-minute walk away along the canal. It has a supermarket, a few pubs, and takeaways.
You're well-placed for days out. It's on the edge of The National Forest and not far from the Peak District. Alton Towers is close by. For something quieter, places like Bakewell, Ashbourne, and Chatsworth House are within a 30-minute drive.
