Heather Lodge is in Willington, Derbyshire. It's a detached, modern lodge right on the marina lake. You get a lot of ducks and swans coming up to the front.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, so one has an en-suite shower. It's a 4 Star place, so it's well-equipped and comfortable. Everything's on one level which is handy.
The main room is open plan, with big doors out to a raised deck. You can sit out there and look over the water. There's a small grassy bit at the back too. The heating is smart, so you can control it easily, and there are TVs and WiFi included.
On the marina itself, there are a few cafes, including one on a narrowboat. There's a bar and restaurant and an Indian that's won awards. Show the discount card on your keyring at most places there for money off. You can hire bikes for free on site, or just walk around the perimeter. Short boat trips run in the warmer months.
The village is about a 20 minute walk along the canal. It's got a supermarket, a few pubs, and the usual takeaways. Buses go to Burton-on-Trent and Derby from here if you don't want to drive.
For days out, the Willington Wetlands are nearby. They've introduced beavers. You're on the edge of the National Forest and close to the Peak District. Peak District National Park is about a 30 minute drive. Alton Towers is within that too, if that's your thing. For a quieter day, towns like Bakewell or places like Chatsworth House are within easy reach.
Facilities: it's got a dishwasher, washing machine, on-site parking, all bedding and towels are provided. No pets.
