Chestnut Lodge

Chestnut Lodge is on the Mercia Marina just outside Willington. It's a detached wooden lodge, part of a small development. The main veranda faces south-west for the evening sun.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. Everything is on one level and there's a ramp to the front door, so access is good. The doorways inside are wider than usual too.

The marina itself is quite big, with a walkway around it. There's a bar and restaurant on site called The Boardwalk, and a few little shops. It's quiet, mainly for watching the boats and the birds.

For days out, you're well placed. The Peak District is about a 20 minute drive north. Bakewell and Ashbourne are the main towns there. Closer by, you've got Calke Abbey and Kedleston Hall. Both are National Trust and within 10 miles.

To the south, you can get to the National Forest area in about 20 minutes. The National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas is that way too. Burton-on-Trent is close if you're interested in the brewery museum.

In terms of what's here: it's all open plan inside. There's a dishwasher, washing machine, TV, and wifi. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. You can bring up to two dogs. Parking is right next to the lodge.
