Mahonia Lodge
Mahonia Lodge is on the Mercia Marina in Willington. It's a new lodge, built in 2022. It's detached and right on the edge of an ornamental lake.
It sleeps eight. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. One has a kingsize bed and an ensuite. The second has two singles that can zip together. The third has two sets of bunk beds. They've all got TVs in them. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's well-equipped.
The living space is all open plan. There are three sets of French doors that open onto a big deck. The deck gets the sun all day and looks straight out over the lake. No one is in front of you.
You can bring two dogs. There's a large dog walking area very close by. They've even put in an outdoor hot and cold shower for washing dogs off.
The marina is big. It's the largest inland one in Europe. There's a place called The Boardwalk with a few shops and a two-storey bar and restaurant. You can sit there and look out at the water. There's a sensory garden at the end of it to sit in.
It's about a fifteen minute walk along the canal towpath into Willington village itself. There are three pubs, a supermarket, some takeaways, and a train station there.
In terms of things to do nearby: You're close to the Trent and Mersey Canal for walks. The Derbyshire Dales are about a thirty minute drive. National Trust places like Calke Abbey or Sudbury Hall are within half an hour. The National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas is about twenty minutes away. Alton Towers is roughly a thirty minute drive.
Facilities: Everything you'd expect. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. It's got a patio and garden with that deck. They decorate it for Christmas if you're booking then.
