Rosemary Lodge

Rosemary Lodge is one of the Nordic-style lodges at Mercia Marina, outside Willington. It's detached, so you're on your own bit. It's set back around a small lake, so it's quiet. You get a view of the water from the big doors and the veranda.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. One's a kingsize, the other has twin beds. The kitchen's new and has a dishwasher. There's a washing machine too. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's well-finished and comfortable. It's open plan, so if someone's in the kitchen, they're not shut away.

The marina is 74 acres, so it's big. You can walk around it on the raised boardwalks. There's a little general store, a few cafes and restaurants, and some gift shops right there. It's about a five minute walk from the lodge. The Mercia Marina website has the latest list.

Willington village has a couple of pubs. The wetlands nature reserve is just the other side of it, where they've reintroduced beavers. For a longer walk, the Trent and Mersey Canal towpath is right there.

You're well-placed for driving out. The Peak District is about half an hour away. Ashbourne and Bakewell are both in that direction. Melbourne Hall is about 15 minutes south. There are plenty of National Trust places nearby, like Sudbury Hall and Calke Abbey.

Facilities: everything's included, like bedding, towels, electricity. There's parking right outside. We can provide a cot and a highchair. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
