The Threshing Barn

The Threshing Barn is near Foremark, in South Derbyshire. It's a big, old barn that's been converted. It sleeps fourteen, which is a lot of people, so it's good for family gatherings or groups. There are four bedrooms and they've all got their own bathrooms.

It's very tall inside, with the original roof timbers up in the air above the dining table. The stairs go up to a gallery landing that looks down over the main room. Big French doors lead out to the garden. It's a large garden with a patio, table and chairs, and a barbecue.

The location is quiet and rural, on the edge of the National Forest. You get good views of Foremark Hall, which is the big country house next door. There are walks straight from the door. A shop and a pub are about a mile away.

Being a 4 Star place, it's well-equipped and comfortable, but it's not a fancy hotel. The facilities are what you'd need: dishwasher, washing machine, TV, WiFi, parking for a few cars. Bedding is included. You can bring up to two dogs. There's a cot and highchair if required.

If you want to explore, Calke Abbey and Staunton Harold Reservoir are close by. You can get to Derby or Burton upon Trent in under half an hour. The Peak District National Park is just over 30 minutes' drive for a proper day out.
