The Chatham is on Pound Street, in the middle of Lyme Regis. It's a big old house, Grade II listed. From the front door, you're about five minutes' walk from the beach and the Cobb.
It sleeps eight people. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. The main living room is on the first floor, so you go up stairs from the front door. Then there are more stairs down to the kitchen and some bedrooms. It's on three floors in total, so the stairs are a fairly constant feature.
The best thing is the view from the first floor. The living room and the little terrace look right out over the roofs towards the sea. You can see along Chesil Beach to Portland. On a clear day, it's very good.
You can park a car in the gated courtyard at the back. That's a big plus for Lyme Regis.
Everything you need is pretty much on the doorstep. Shops, pubs, restaurants are all within 50 yards. The beach and the Cobb harbour are a short walk downhill. Fossil hunting on the beaches is the main activity for kids. For a longer walk, the South West Coast Path is right there.
If you drive, you can get to a lot of the Dorset coast quite easily. West Bay is about 20 minutes away. The National Trust has a few spots nearby, like the area around Golden Cap. For a bigger day out, Weymouth or the Tank Museum at Bovington are within about 45 minutes.
The house has the basics covered: WiFi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. There's a woodburner for colder evenings. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair if you need them. No pets, sorry.
