Melin Y Wig

This is Melin Y Wig. It's a detached cottage on the outskirts of Brynrefail, near Llanberis. It sleeps six, and there are three bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's well-presented and comfortable.

The main room is open plan, with the kitchen, dining table, and sitting area all together. There's a wood burner in there. The garden is enclosed and has a patio area.

The stairs are a typical cottage staircase. They're not a spiral, but they are steeper and narrower than you'd get in a modern house. Something to be aware of.

Brynrefail is quiet. You're about a ten-minute drive from Llanberis. From there you can get the Snowdon Mountain Railway up the mountain if you don't want to walk. The National Slate Museum is in Llanberis too. Caernarfon with its castle is about six miles away.

For a day out, Anglesey is within half an hour. The drive over the Menai Bridge is good. South Stack Lighthouse is about a 40-minute drive. The Penrhyn Castle near Bangor is about 20 minutes.

For walking, you're right on the edge of Snowdonia. The Snowdonia National Park site has route ideas.

Facilities: there's a washing machine, WiFi, and parking for two cars on the drive. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. No pets, sorry.
