Cairnsmore Cottage

Cairnsmore Cottage is on the edge of Newton Stewart, just before you head into the Galloway Hills. It's one of three cottages around a shared courtyard, but it feels separate because of how it's angled. You get your own enclosed garden.

The cottage is all on one level, which is handy. It sleeps seven in three rooms. There's a main bedroom with a king bed and its own shower room. Then a family room with a double and a single bed. Then a twin room. There's another bathroom with a shower for everyone else. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and has everything you need.

The living room has patio doors straight out to the garden. The kitchen is a decent size for cooking for a group. The view from the garden is over fields towards the hills.

You can walk into Newton Stewart in about ten minutes. It's a typical small town, has a Co-op, a couple of bakeries, some pubs that do food. For anything bigger, you'd drive to Castle Douglas or Stranraer.

The location is really why you'd come. You're right on the edge of the Galloway Forest Park. The driving roads through the hills are brilliant if you've got a bike or just like the scenery. For walking, there are trails from gentle to serious straight from the door. The area is a Dark Sky Park, so on a clear night you can just sit in the garden and see everything.

You can be at the coast at Wigtown or Garlieston in under twenty minutes. Wigtown is the book town, full of second-hand bookshops. It's worth a look.

Facilities are all included: bedding, towels, WiFi, TV, washing machine. There's bike storage and parking right outside. You can bring up to two dogs.
