Carty Cottage

Carty Cottage is a studio cottage on our farm near Newton Stewart. It's one of three cottages in the yard. It sleeps two, one bedroom with a king size bed. It has a 4 Star rating.

The layout is open plan with a living space and the bed at one end. It's all on one level, so no stairs. There's a conservatory off the main room which is nice and light for having meals. The bathroom has both a bath and a separate shower cubicle.

You can walk into Newton Stewart in about 15 minutes. It's a small town with shops, a Co-op, and a few places to eat. It's useful for picking things up.

The cottage is on a quiet lane. You look out over fields. It’s very peaceful here at night. Because we’re rural, the night sky is often clear. The Galloway Forest Park is a Dark Sky Park, about a 20 minute drive away. That’s the best spot for proper stargazing.

For walking and cycling, it’s a good base. There are forest trails close by. The 7stanes mountain biking trails are within a half hour drive. Kirroughtree is probably the closest.

You can be at the coast in under 30 minutes. The beaches around Portpatrick and Sandhead are good for a walk. If you like gardens, Logan Botanic Garden is worth the trip, about 40 minutes away.

The facilities are what you'd expect. Washing machine, TV, WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside the cottage. You can bring up to two dogs.
