Minnow Cottage
Minnow Cottage is in Newton Stewart, Dumfriesshire. It's a terraced cottage in Old Minnigaff, part of a quiet courtyard. The house is on the bank of the River Cree.
It sleeps two, one bedroom with one bathroom. It's a 4 Star place. It's got a wood burner in the living room and a big picture window looking straight out over the river. The garden is right on the riverbank. You can sit out there and watch for kingfishers and otters.
It's a bungalow, so everything's on the ground floor. There's a washing machine, towels and bedding are included, and there's parking. You can bring up to two dogs.
There's a shop about 300 yards away. A pub and a restaurant are about 100 yards. They're handy.
The cottage is right on the edge of the Galloway Forest Park. That's a Dark Sky Park, so the stars are good on a clear night. You'll see deer and wild goats there in the daytime. For walking, there's a lot of forest, glens, and coastal paths. For bikes, the 7stanes trail centres at Glentrool and Kirroughtree are close by.
Wigtown, the book town, is about seven miles away. It's got a lot of bookshops. Wigtown Bay there is a big nature reserve, good for birds. Kirkcudbright, Gatehouse of Fleet, and Castle Douglas are all within a half-hour drive. The nearest beach is about seven miles.
