It's called Wee Cordorcan. It's just outside Newton Stewart, tucked into the edge of a big RSPB woodland. It's a detached cottage, very small, for two people only. There's one bedroom upstairs and a shower room.
The garden around here is lovely. It's shared with the other cottage and the owners, but it's very big so it never feels crowded. You get your own patio area with a table and chairs. The main thing is the location. You walk out the gate and you're straight onto the path into the Wood of Cree nature reserve. It's an ancient wood, full of birds. In spring there are bluebells. You might see otters by the river.
Inside, it's a 4 Star place. That means it's comfortable and well-kept. It's got everything you'd need for a week. There's a TV, WiFi, and a washing machine. All the bedding and towels are included. You park right outside. The stairs up to the bedroom are a bit steep, just so you know.
Newton Stewart is about five miles away. That's where the supermarket, a few shops, and some decent pubs and restaurants are. For a bigger day out, you're well placed. The Galloway Forest Park is right there for walking. It's a Dark Sky Park too, so if the night is clear the stars are amazing. For cycling, the 7Stanes mountain bike trails at Kirroughtree are close. There are several golf courses within a short drive.
The coast isn't far, maybe twenty minutes. You can explore the Machars Peninsula. There are ruined abbeys, like Dundrennan, and some quiet sandy beaches. Wigtown, the book town, is about a fifteen minute drive.
Useful links for planning: Visit Scotland has good local information, and the Forestry and Land Scotland site has details on the forest park trails.
No pets, I'm afraid. It's just for two.
