The Orangerie is a barn conversion on our farm in Glentrool. It's detached, so it's just you and the views. It sleeps two.
It's got one bedroom and one bathroom with a shower. Fairly small but it's all there. It's a 5 Star place, which really just means it's well-equipped and finished to a high standard. Nothing's missing.
The main thing is the view. You look straight out at the Galloway Hills. There's a private deck with an American hot tub. You'll see plenty of birds. Red Kites, Sparrowhawks. Red squirrels and deer are common. Pine martens too, if you're lucky. It's very quiet.
You're right in Galloway Forest Park. It's a Dark Sky Park, so the stars on a clear night are something else. The Southern Upland Way goes right through the area. Good walking and cycling from the door. The White Cairn, which is an old burial site from about 3000 BC, is a walk away in Glentrool forest.
There's a local pub about a mile and a half down the road. The nearest shop is eight miles, so you'll want to arrive with supplies. We have a wild salmon smokery on site. You can buy some if you like. The paintings inside are by my wife.
The facilities are all included. Woodburning stove, dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, TV with satellite. Bedding and towels are provided. There's parking right outside. The garden is enclosed. Sorry, no pets.
