West Lodge
West Lodge is on the Machermore Castle Estate, just outside Newton Stewart. It's a semi-detached house. The river runs through the estate, so you get that view from the garden. The garden is enclosed and it's just for you.
It sleeps eight, in four bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. It has a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped. The entrance is wheelchair accessible, but it's worth noting the rest of the house is spread over two floors. The living area is open plan.
Newton Stewart is about a mile away. It has shops, a couple of pubs, and places to eat. For a bigger choice of restaurants, Gatehouse of Fleet is about a 20-minute drive. The beach is about eight miles away, towards Wigtown.
The main thing here is the location for getting outside. You're right at the edge of the Galloway Forest Park. It's huge. You can walk for miles. You'll see deer. There's local fishing if that's your thing. A golf course is nearby too.
Other towns like Castle Douglas or the artist's town, Kirkcudbright, are within half an hour's drive. They're nice for a wander and a coffee.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, WiFi, TV, and parking for a couple of cars. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring one well-behaved dog.
