South Lodge
South Lodge is on the Machermore Castle Estate, just outside Newton Stewart. It's a mid-terraced cottage. You get peace and quiet and the woods start right from the garden gate.
It sleeps six, in three bedrooms. There's one bathroom. The place has a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well kept. The garden is enclosed, which is handy if you're bringing a dog. You can bring one dog.
You're on the edge of the Galloway Forest Park. It’s a big area with hills, lochs, and forest trails. You might see deer. Newton Stewart is just over a mile away for shops and a bite to eat.
Within about half an hour you can get to places like Castle Douglas or the coast at Portpatrick. The beaches that way are good, but they're a proper drive, about eight miles or so.
For facilities, there's a washing machine, TV, and WiFi. The bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside. The entrance and the main living space are all on the ground floor and are wheelchair accessible.
