Donallan
Donallan is on a quiet lane about a mile outside of Newton Stewart. It’s surrounded by farmland. The views are good, out over the fields towards the Galloway hills and Wigtown Bay.
It’s a detached cottage that sleeps five. Three bedrooms, one bathroom. It’s got a 4 Star rating. It’s comfortable and well kept.
The kitchen is open plan with the dining area. There are patio doors out to the garden. The garden is enclosed and spacious. There’s a summer house out there with a TV and a little bar area. The hot tub is under a covered pergola so you can use it in most weather.
Newton Stewart is a 20 minute walk. They have supermarkets, shops, and places to eat. It’s known as the gateway to the Galloway hills. For walking or mountain biking, Glentrool and Kirroughtree are close by. The 7Stanes trails are within a 30 minute drive.
Wigtown, the book town, is about ten minutes in the car. The coast is nearby too. Portpatrick and Sandhead are pretty little ports. There are some quiet sandy beaches. The RSPB reserve at the Mull of Galloway is about 40 minutes away, good for seabirds in spring and summer.
If you like gardens, Logan Botanical Garden is worth a visit. It’s about half an hour away. There are several golf courses locally.
Facilities: it has parking, a washing machine, a dishwasher, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There’s bicycle storage. No pets.
