High Threave Cottage
High Threave Cottage is in Spittal, just outside Newton Stewart. It's on our working farm, so you'll see sheep and cows in the fields around you. It's detached, so you're on your own.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms, which is handy. It's all on the ground floor, so it's level inside. The doorways are wide enough for a wheelchair to get in, but some of the farm track outside is gravel, so just be aware of that.
Inside, it's spacious and bright because the windows are big. You look out over the fields from every room. The sitting room is a good size. There's a deck outside with a table and chairs, fully enclosed so a dog or kids can't wander off. You can sit there and watch what's happening on the farm.
It's quiet here, but you're only ten minutes by car from Newton Stewart. That's where the supermarkets are, along with a few pubs and places to eat. Wigtown, the book town, is about the same distance in the other direction.
For getting outdoors, you're in a good spot. There are quiet farm lanes right from the gate if you want to walk or cycle. The Galloway Forest Park is about a 20-minute drive. The 7Stanes mountain biking at Kirroughtree is maybe 25 minutes away. The coast is close too, about 15 minutes to Port William or Monreith. The beaches there are sandy and usually quiet.
In terms of what's here: all the bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine. TV. Parking right outside. Sorry, no pets.
