The Lodge
The Lodge is in Spittal, in Dumfriesshire. It's a detached Victorian lodge in a big garden. The garden's enclosed and you get good views over Mochrum Park.
It sleeps four in two bedrooms, with one bathroom. Everything's on the ground floor. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean. It's not a modern show home, but it's warm and it works.
The sitting room has an open fire. There's a washing machine, a TV, and the bedding and towels are included. Parking is right there.
You can bring two dogs. The garden is enclosed, which helps.
If you're into fishing, it's very handy. There's a pool called the '40 Footer' about two minutes' walk away, through the parkland. The fishing hut is there. It's a main feature of the place.
For other things, you're in a good spot for quiet roads if you like cycling or walking. The Galloway Forest Park is nearby if you want proper hills and wildlife. Kirroughtree, part of the 7stanes mountain bike trails, isn't far either. There are a few golf courses around.
The coast is about 20 minutes' drive. There are some nice sandy beaches and little villages that way. The nearest pub and restaurant is in Glencaple, about seven miles away.
