Merrick
Merrick is an apartment on the first floor in Newton Stewart. It looks out onto the main street. It was refurbished a couple of years ago so things like the kitchen are fairly fresh.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one shower room. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's a comfortable place for a small group.
You're right in the town, so you've got shops, a couple of pubs, and places to eat on your doorstep. It's useful.
The real point of being here is to get out into the Galloway Forest. It's about a 15 minute drive to the edge of it. The Galloway Forest Park site has maps. It's a Dark Sky Park too, so if it's clear at night you can see a lot of stars.
There's a lot of coast nearby. Places like Portpatrick are pretty. The beaches are quieter than you might think. The RSPB reserve at Mull of Galloway is good for seabirds if that's your interest.
If you're bringing bikes, the 7Stanes trails at Kirroughtree are close. There's local fishing and a few golf courses within a short drive.
Facilities wise: it's got wifi, a TV, a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot if you need it. No pets.
