The Carriage House is in Newbiggin by the Sea, on a street just back from the promenade. It's a first-floor apartment, so you go up an external staircase to get in. The space is all on one floor once you're up there. It's a 4 Star, so it's well-fitted and modern inside.
It sleeps six but there are two bedrooms, so it's a sofa bed in the living area for two of you. The main living space is open plan. There's a good sized shower room and an extra toilet downstairs next to the entrance, which is handy.
You're a few minutes' walk from the sea. The promenade is flat, good for a pushchair or if someone finds walking difficult. There's a long, sandy beach. The offshore sculpture is interesting to see from the shore.
Locally, there's a golf course looking over the sea. The local pub is a short walk away, and there are a couple of cafes and takeaways nearby including an old ice cream parlour.
You can get a bus from here. Morpeth is about seven miles inland, Newcastle is maybe twenty miles south. To the north, you've got Amble harbour and Alnwick Castle with its gardens. Bamburgh and Holy Island are a bit further but doable for a day out. South, you've got Whitley Bay and Tynemouth.
Facilities: it's got a washing machine, WiFi, a Smart TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot, highchair and stairgate if you need them. You can store bikes. Up to two dogs are welcome.
If you're planning trips out, the Northumberland County Council website is good for local info, and National Trust North East covers some of the nearby big properties.
