Seashells By The Sea

Seashells By The Sea is in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, Northumberland. It's two doors down from a cottage called Seashore Hideaway, so if you know someone booking that, you're close.

The cottage sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean.

The back garden has a hot tub under a wooden gazebo. It's private. Robes and slippers are there for you to use. The house is at the back of a residential area, with fields behind it.

The beach and promenade are about a ten minute walk. Newbiggin's beach is a long sweep and doesn't usually get crowded, even in summer. There's a sculpture in the bay called The Couple. The local Maritime Centre has a cafe and sometimes art shows.

There's a shop five minutes away. A pub and restaurant are about the same walk as the beach.

You're well placed for the Northumberland coast. Druridge Bay and Cresswell are a short drive south, with miles of sand. Heading north, you can get up to Bamburgh Castle and Holy Island. It's about an hour's drive. Morpeth is eight miles inland for shops and more places to eat. The owner can sort a discount at the local cliff-top golf course if you ask beforehand.

For a different day out, Kielder Water and Forest Park is about an hour west. Hadrian's Wall is roughly the same drive in that direction.

Facilities: parking, enclosed garden, washing machine, wifi, TV, cot and highchair available. It takes up to two dogs.

Useful links: Northumberland Coast National Landscape for the area, and English Heritage for Hadrian's Wall.
