Hedgehog Hideaway is one of two glamping pods on a quiet residential park in Stakeford. It's detached and sits right between Wansbeck Riverside Park and the river.
The pod sleeps three. It's one bedroom with a double bed, and there's a sofa bed for a third person in the main space. There's one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which basically means it's a comfortable, clean setup.
The main feature is the front. It has big bi-fold doors that open right up onto a raised, gated deck. You can sit out there with a coffee. It looks over the river and the trees of the nature reserve. You might see rabbits, deer, or if you're lucky, red squirrels.
The kitchen is small, just enough for basics. There's a shower room, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included.
The park café is open daily and is decent. The river has a slipway if you want to launch a kayak or paddleboard. There's fishing locally. The park is good for walking and cycling along the river.
You're about four miles from the beach at Newbiggin-by-the-Sea. It's a sandy beach with a promenade. Morpeth is a ten-minute drive for shops. The Northumberland Coast beaches, like Druridge Bay, are within twenty to thirty minutes.
Inland, you've got the Northumberland National Park and Hadrian's Wall about a forty-five minute drive. Newcastle city centre is around half an hour.
Facilities: There's a patio deck with furniture, parking right by the pod, and a kids play area on the park. Sorry, no pets.
