Wellwood Cottage Morpeth

Wellwood Cottage is on a street in Morpeth. It's a terraced cottage with a small garden out the back and its own parking space, which is useful. The on-street parking permit is included too, just in case.

It's rated 4 Star. It sleeps three people in two bedrooms. One bedroom has a double bed, the other a single. There's one bathroom with a walk-in shower and some grab rails fitted.

It's a comfortable place. The living room has a decent sized TV and a stack of DVDs for evenings in. There's a washing machine and WiFi. Bedding and towels are provided.

You can walk into the town centre in about five minutes. Morpeth's a nice market town. There are a few pubs, some restaurants, and the usual shops. You can walk along the river. The Chantry, which is an old building from the 13th century, has a tourist information centre inside.

Carlisle Park is pleasant, especially when the flowers are out.

Being right by the A1 is handy for getting about. You can drive up to the Northumberland coast in under half an hour. Places like Alnmouth and Warkworth are good for a beach walk. The castles at Warkworth and Alnwick are about a 25 minute drive. National Trust Northumbria has details on some of their properties up here.

Heading the other way, you can get to Newcastle in maybe 35 minutes. It's good for a day out, for shopping or the museums. Hadrian's Wall is about an hour's drive west. Kielder Water is roughly an hour north.

The cottage has a patio with a barbecue. It's wheelchair accessible at the entrance and has those grab rails in the shower. No pets, I'm afraid.
