Clematis Cottage is in Church Brough, near Brough in Cumbria. It's a stone coach house from the 1700s, so it feels old and solid. It's very quiet here, on a bridleway. You'll see more deer and rabbits than cars.
It's for two people only. One bedroom, one en-suite shower room. It's got a 4 Star rating. The bedroom is upstairs, big and airy with beams. The bed is a super king, but we can split it into two full singles if you'd prefer. The stairs are a typical cottage stair, so watch your step.
Downstairs is all one open room: kitchen, dining, and living area. The kitchen's well set up if you like cooking. There's a TV. Outside, there's a private courtyard with seating and you're welcome to use a bench in the kitchen garden. From there on a clear day you can see Blencathra and Skiddaw. Help yourself to any fruit or herbs that are in season.
The village of Brough is about half a mile away. There's a shop, a couple of pubs, places to eat, and a fish and chip shop. Just up the lane is Brough Castle, a Norman castle on a Roman fort site. There's a good ice cream parlour there too, using milk from the farm.
You're right between three big areas: the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District, and the North Pennines. It's proper walking country. The Pennine Journey path goes past the door. For golf, there are two courses nearby. The Carlisle to Settle railway is close if you fancy a train trip.
Included facilities: all bedding and towels, WiFi, TV, dishwasher, parking right outside, and an electric vehicle charger. Sorry, no pets.
