Clematis Cottage

Clematis Cottage is in Church Brough. It's a stone coach house from the 1700s. It's very quiet, more of a lane than a road. You get more sheep going past than cars.

It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. The room upstairs is big and light, with a super king bed. We can split it into two singles if you need that. The shower room is right there.

Downstairs is all open plan. Kitchen, dining, sitting area. The kitchen is alright if you like cooking. There's a TV and WiFi. The walls are thick stone and curve in a bit, which is just how it was built. The stairs up to the bedroom are fine, but they're the original cottage ones so watch your head on the beam at the top.

Outside, there's a private courtyard that gets the sun. You can also use a bench in the kitchen garden. On a clear day you can see Blencathra and Skiddaw from there. Help yourself to any fruit or herbs that are in season.

The village has what you need. There's a shop, a couple of pubs, a hotel restaurant and a fish and chip shop. All about half a mile away. There's a castle ruin just up the hill, and a good ice cream place by it.

You're right between three big scenic areas: the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District, and the North Pennines. You can walk straight out onto the Pennine Journey route. For driving, you're about 20 minutes from Kirkby Stephen, or half an hour from Penrith or Appleby. The M6 is about 20 minutes away if you're heading further into the Lakes.

Facilities: it's got a dishwasher, parking right outside, an electric vehicle charger, and all bedding and towels are included. No pets, sorry.
