This is Smardale Cottage. It's in Smardale, which is near Kirkby Stephen in Cumbria. It's a two bedroom cottage that sleeps four.
It's got a 4 Star rating. It's been recently redone, so it's clean and comfortable. It's not a big, grand place. It's cosy.
You come in through a boot room. There's a utility and a toilet there. The main room has a wood burner. The stairs are steep, which is normal for a cottage this size.
There's one bathroom upstairs with a shower and a bath. One bedroom has a super king bed, the other a double. The garden is south facing and enclosed. You can see fields from it.
The main thing is the location. At the bottom of the garden there's a gate that goes straight into the Smardale Gill nature reserve. You can walk from there. The Settle to Carlisle railway viaduct runs through it. You can see it from the paths.
Kirkby Stephen is the nearest proper town, about three miles. It's got shops, a couple of pubs, and a market on Mondays. The Coast to Coast footpath is about half a mile from the cottage.
For bigger towns, Kendal and Penrith are about a 45 minute drive. The Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District are both within about half an hour.
It's got the basics: a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV, and parking for one car off the road. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring one dog.
