Townend Cottage is in Soulby, which is a small hamlet in the Eden Valley. It's semi-detached, joined onto the owner's farmhouse. It's on a working farm, so you'll see sheep in the fields. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you're bringing dogs.
The cottage sleeps four. There are two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well looked after. There's a wood burner in the living room, and they supply some wood for it. The front porch is useful for muddy boots.
The nearest shop and pub are about two and a half miles away, in Kirkby Stephen. The town has the usual things: a supermarket, a few cafes, and some places to eat.
For walking, you're right in the middle of good country. You can just step out from the door. For a proper day out, the Northern Lakes are about half an hour's drive. Ullswater is the closest big lake. The North Pennines area is also on your doorstep.
Appleby-in-Westmorland is a short drive the other way. It's a nice old market town.
Facilities: there's a dishwasher, washing machine, TV, and wifi. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. You can park right next to the cottage. There's an electric vehicle charger. You can bring up to two dogs.
