Gelderslack Barn
Gelderslack Barn is just outside Nateby, near Kirkby Stephen in Cumbria. It’s a converted barn, detached. It’s just for two people. One bedroom, one wet room shower on the ground floor.
The renovation was finished in 2020, so everything’s in good order. It has a 4 Star rating. It’s open plan inside, with a wood burning stove. The garden is enclosed, which is handy if you bring a dog. You can bring one pet.
There’s a pub about 200 yards down the lane. A shop and a restaurant are a couple of miles away in Kirkby Stephen. It’s a quiet spot. You’re in the Eden Valley here, so you’re sort of between three big areas: the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales, and the North Pennines. All are within about a 30 minute drive.
For a proper day in the Lakes, Ullswater is the closest big lake. You can get a steamer there. The Settle to Carlisle railway runs nearby too, if you fancy that. Kirkby Stephen itself has the basics: shops, a few pubs. Appleby-in-Westmorland is about 14 miles away and has a leisure centre with a pool.
Facilities: Wi-Fi, washing machine, towels and bedding are included. Parking right outside. The entrance and wet room are wheelchair accessible, but the rest of the layout is open plan so you’d need to check the specifics if that’s a requirement.
