Brow View Cottage is an old stone barn near Ravenstonedale. We converted it ourselves. It's on our farm, so our house is next door. You get 20 acres of fields around you to look at, and walk in.
It sleeps four in two bedrooms. Both bedrooms are downstairs and each has its own bathroom, which is handy. Upstairs is all one open space: kitchen, dining table, and sitting area with a wood burner. The stairs are oak and glass. They're quite steep, like a ladder, so you need to be careful.
Outside there's a small, enclosed patio with a table and a barbecue. It's not a big garden, but it's private.
You're right at the bottom of the Howgill Fells here. You can walk straight out the door onto the hills. The nearest pub is about a mile and a half away in Ravenstonedale. Kirkby Stephen is five miles for shops. It's a proper market town with a co-op.
You're sort of between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lakes. Sedbergh, which is in the Dales, is about nine miles. Kendal and the start of the Lake District are about twenty. The National Trust Lake District site has good ideas for days out. For walking, the Yorkshire Dales National Park site is useful.
The cottage has underfloor heating downstairs, wifi, a dishwasher, and parking. It's rated 4 Star. We allow up to two dogs. We include all the bedding and towels.
