Waitby School
Waitby School is just outside Kirkby Stephen. It's an old schoolhouse from the 1680s, up on the fell by itself. You can see for miles from here. There are fields all around with sheep in them.
It sleeps seven people. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's a 5 Star place, which means it's been done up to a high standard. They kept a lot of the old features during the restoration, so there's wood panelling and big doors. The old outside lavatory is still there too, just as a feature now. Oh, and there's a school bell.
It's got underfloor heating and a wood-burning stove. There's a dishwasher and a washing machine. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you've got kids. There's parking right there.
You're about a mile and a half from Kirkby Stephen. There's a shop and a couple of pubs there. The nearest one is about a twenty minute walk if you fancy it.
You're right on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. For walks, the Smardale Gill viaduct is very close. It's an old railway line, so the path is good. If you want to drive out, the Lake District is about half an hour away. So is the North Pennines.
