The Hayloft is in Crosby Garrett. It's a converted barn, so it's one big space downstairs and the bedroom's upstairs. It's detached, so it's just you. It's quiet here, you're just looking out at fields.
It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom with a shower. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and warm, with a wood burner. We supply the wood. There's underfloor heating too.
The stairs are a spiral staircase. They're fine, but just be aware if you have any trouble with stairs.
There's a little village shop and post office. For a bigger shop, and pubs and places to eat, Kirkby Stephen is about four miles away. That's your nearest proper town.
You can walk straight from the door. The Coast to Coast path goes through the village. The roads are quiet if you bring bikes. Smardale Nature Reserve is close by if you like wildlife.
Kirkby Stephen station is on the Settle to Carlisle railway line. You can get a train to Settle, see the Ribblehead Viaduct, and come back. It's a good day out.
Appleby-in-Westmorland is about fifteen minutes by car. Penrith is maybe half an hour, that's where you find the big supermarkets. The Lake District, Windermere way, is under an hour's drive.
It has Wi-Fi, a TV, parking right outside, and a patio area with furniture. All the bedding and towels are included. We don't allow pets.
For planning days out: Yorkshire Dales National Park and Lake District National Park.
