The Ash
The Ash is a shepherd's hut on our farm in Smardale. It's in the Eden Valley, well placed for the Yorkshire Dales and the Lakes, but it's quiet here. You're on a working farm, so there's often something going on in the yard.
The hut sleeps two. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It’s modern inside, all open plan. It’s clean and comfortable, but it is a hut, so the space is compact. Everything you need is in there though.
You've got your own little patio area with a table and chairs. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside.
For walks, you can step straight out onto the footpaths. Smardale Gill and the viaduct are on the doorstep, and Scandal Beck is about a ten minute walk down the lane. The Coast to Coast cycle route goes through here too. It's good for biking.
The nearest pub doing food is about two miles away in Kirkby Stephen. For a bigger day out, you're within a half hour drive of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the eastern edges of the Lake District. Kendal is about twenty minutes away.
We allow up to two dogs. Please keep them on a lead around the farm.
