The Larches is in Hartley, a small village in Cumbria. It's a detached stone cottage. There's a little stream that runs right by it, with a small stone bridge to cross over to the front door.
It sleeps ten people, which is a fair size. Five bedrooms, three bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well looked after.
The garden is enclosed, which is good if you've got kids or dogs. It's terraced, so there are a couple of levels. You get a view of the stream from there.
Being in Hartley means you're in the Eden Valley. The Wainwright Coast to Coast path goes straight through the village, so if you're walking that, it's very handy. You can start a walk from the door without needing the car.
Kirkby Stephen is the nearest proper town. It's about a fifteen minute walk, maybe twenty. There are shops, pubs, and places to eat there. We've got a local pub about three quarters of a mile away too.
The location is good because you're between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. You can drive to either in well under half an hour. For a day at a lake, Haweswater is about twenty minutes away.
Inside, it's been done up nicely. It's light and there's enough space for a big group. The stairs are normal, nothing tricky.
For facilities: it's got parking, WiFi, a washing machine, a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and a highchair. Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome.
