Westwood Barn is a converted barn on our working farm. It sleeps eight, which sounds big, but it's not a mansion. It's just a decent size. The rating is 4 Star.
You come in on the ground floor. All four bedrooms are down there. The main one has a big sleigh bed and shares a bathroom with the next room through a jack and jill door. There's another double room, and a fourth room with two singles and an old Xbox. There's also a separate wet room with a shower. The washing machine is in a cupboard under the stairs.
Upstairs is just one big open room. That's the living area, dining area, and kitchen all together. There's a gas fire, a TV, and a Nintendo Wii. The kitchen has what you need. There's a separate toilet up there too.
The barn is in Brough Sowerby, near Kirkby Stephen. It's the Eden Valley, so it's quiet. You're about 15 minutes from the M6 if you're coming off there. The Lake District is maybe 40 minutes' drive to the west. We're on a farm, so you'll see sheep and maybe hear tractors.
There's a pub and a restaurant about a mile and a half away. The nearest shop is in Kirkby Stephen, two miles. Kirkby Stephen has a co-op, a few pubs, and a main street with shops. Appleby-in-Westmorland is about ten minutes south. It's a nice little town.
If you want to go out for the day, you're well placed. For walking, the Howgills are close and good for a proper hike. For a drive, you can head into the Yorkshire Dales eastwards, or the Lakes westwards. High Force waterfall and Barnard Castle are about half an hour away towards Durham.
You can bring up to two dogs. There's a garden area with a patio. Parking is right outside. All bedding and towels are included.
