Borrowdale Cottage
Borrowdale Cottage is in South Stainmore, up on the moors. It's a single storey bungalow, so everything is on one level. It's for two people. One bedroom, one shower room.
It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well-equipped, not just basic. There's a wood burner for the cooler nights. The garden is enclosed, which is handy if you're bringing a dog. You can have one dog, by the way.
The place is quiet. You look out over the fields and the valley. It's a good spot if you want to just switch off. There's a TV, wifi, parking right outside, and all the usual things like a washer and dishwasher.
For a pint or some supplies, Brough village is about three miles down the road. It has a shop, a couple of places to eat, and the castle ruins. Kirkby Stephen is a bit bigger, with more shops and cafes. It's about a ten minute drive.
You're right on the edge of the North Pennines AONB. The walking from the doorstep is excellent, straight onto the moor. You can be in the Lake District or the Yorkshire Dales in under half an hour by car. Barnard Castle is about twenty minutes away in the other direction.
