This is Christopher's Cottage in Warcop. It's a one-up one-down, detached stone cottage. It sleeps two, so just a double bedroom and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating.
We had it fully renovated in 2022. There's air source underfloor heating, which means the stone floor downstairs is always warm. The bathroom and kitchen are all new. It's a compact layout: a kitchen and living area downstairs, then the bedroom and bathroom upstairs. The views from the bedroom look out over the garden.
Outside, there's a garden with seating and one of those outdoor cast-iron bathtubs. It's private.
The cottage is in Warcop, which is a small village. Appleby-in-Westmorland is the nearest proper town, about two miles away. It's a nice market town on the River Eden. Appleby Castle is there if you're interested. The main street, Boroughgate, has shops and cafes. They have a cheese market.
You're well placed for getting out. The North Pennines and Alston are very close. Driving over the Hartside Pass gives you a great view right over to the Lakes. The Northern Lake District, like Ullswater, is about half an hour's drive. Keswick and Penrith are also within that half hour.
For train enthusiasts, the Settle to Carlisle railway line runs through Appleby. Steam trains run on it in the summer.
Facilities wise: it has a dishwasher, washing machine, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's on-site parking. One well-behaved dog is allowed. There's a kids' play area in the village.
