It's called Castle Green. It's a Georgian house right in the middle of Appleby. A big, solid old thing, Grade II listed. You get the whole house.
It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms upstairs, two bathrooms, one with a big roll-top bath. Downstairs there's a kitchen with an Aga, a separate living room, and a little sun room. It's spacious. It has a 4 Star rating, which means it's well-equipped.
The garden is fully enclosed. It's long and backs right onto the wall of Appleby Castle. Good if you've got kids or a dog. Actually, no pets allowed, sorry. But the garden is private.
The Aga is on all the time in the colder months. It heats the kitchen and you can cook on it. There's a separate electric oven and hob too. The stairs are standard for a house this age. There's a step down into the sun room.
You're about a minute's walk from the shops and pubs in Appleby. It's a quiet town. Good for a pint and not much else, which is the point. The castle is just over the wall.
For walking, you're set. The Pennines, the Lakes, and the Yorkshire Dales are all within half an hour's drive. You can get straight onto fells from the door really. For planning, the Lake District National Park and Yorkshire Dales National Park sites are useful.
Inside, it's got what you'd need. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair. There's bike storage. The front door is wheelchair accessible, but the rest of the house has steps and different levels.
