Townhead Cottage is in Kirkby Thore, which is a village near Penrith. It's a small, old cottage so it's a bit creaky. It sleeps three.
There are two bedrooms upstairs. One is a king size, the other is a single. The bathroom is a Jack and Jill style, so it has doors to both bedrooms. It's fine, you just need to remember to lock both doors.
Downstairs is one room really, with the living, dining and kitchen areas together. It's got a wood burning stove. The kitchen has what you need: an oven, hob, microwave, and a fridge with a small freezer. There's a wine cooler too.
Outside, there's a garden at the back. It gets the sun. There's a summerhouse out there with chairs, so you can sit and look at the fells even if it's drizzling.
You can bring up to two dogs. The entrance has level access, so it's okay for wheelchairs to get in, but the rest of the cottage isn't really suitable because it's old and the stairs are typical cottage stairs.
There's a shop and a pub in the village, both within walking distance. Appleby-in-Westmorland is about three miles away. It's a nice little town with a castle.
You're about 15 minutes from the M6 if you're driving. Penrith is ten minutes away for bigger supermarkets. The eastern edge of the Lake District National Park is about a 20-minute drive. Ullswater is probably the closest lake. From there you can get on the steamers.
Facilities include WiFi, a washing machine, and bedding and towels are provided. The electricity is included.
