This is Clarence Cottage in Appleby. It’s a one bedroom place for two people, next to a pub. You can bring one dog.
The cottage is traditional inside, with flagstone floors and a wood burner. It’s a 4 Star place, so the standard of things like the bathroom and kitchen is decent. There’s a small garden out the back.
The pub is literally next door. It serves food. The town centre with shops is about half a mile away.
Appleby itself is a nice old market town on the River Eden. You can walk down to Jubilee Bridge. In autumn you can sometimes see salmon jumping in the weir. The Settle to Carlisle railway line runs through here, which is a famous route for steam trains in the summer.
For a bigger day out, Lake Ullswater is about a 30 minute drive. The North Pennines and the rest of the northern Lake District are within easy reach.
Facilities: there’s a washing machine, TV, Wi-Fi, and bike storage. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair.
