Cherry Barn

Cherry Barn is in Dufton, which is just outside Appleby in Cumbria. It’s a detached stone barn conversion. You get the whole place to yourselves. It looks out towards Dufton Pike, which is a proper hill.

The barn sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom with a shower. It’s got its 4 Star rating because it’s well kept and everything works, but it’s not a show home. It’s warm and dry.

The main living space is open plan. Kitchen at one end, sitting area at the other. There’s a washing machine, a TV, and the WiFi is fine for normal use. Bedding and towels are included. Parking is right outside the door.

You can bring up to three dogs. The storage room is handy for muddy boots or bikes.

The village itself is quiet. There’s a pub and a tea room about 200 yards away. Both are decent. You’re right on the Pennine Way here, so the walking is serious from the doorstep. The walk up to High Cup Nick is the big one. The view from the top is worth the climb.

Appleby-in-Westmorland is about three miles away. It’s got shops, cafes, and the river. The train station is on the Settle to Carlisle line if you fancy a scenic trip.

You can drive to the Lake District or the Yorkshire Dales in under half an hour. Hadrian’s Wall is a bit further, maybe an hour’s drive.

For planning walks: Yorkshire Dales National Park and Lake District National Park.
