Cruck End
Cruck End is in Crackenthorpe, a few miles outside Appleby. It's a detached cottage, part of a pair next to our house. You're on your own though, it's private.
The place sleeps six. Three bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean but not luxurious. The original cruck beams are still there, they're the big ones running through the middle of the cottage. They're low in a couple of places, so mind your head.
Appleby is about two miles away. It's a proper little town with shops, pubs, and places to eat. They've got a swimming pool and a golf course there too. The famous horse fair is in June, so it gets very busy then.
You're right in the middle of three good areas here: the Eden Valley, the Lake District, and the Yorkshire Dales. Penrith is about ten miles away if you need bigger shops. For a proper day out, the Lake District is about a 30 minute drive north. You can get to parts of the Yorkshire Dales in about the same time going east.
The cottage has parking right outside. There's WiFi, a washing machine, a shower, a highchair, and a stairgate. We allow one well-behaved dog.
